Frequently Asked Questions About Farewll Fishing Guide Service

Welcome to our FAQ page! At Farwell Fishing Guide Service, we want to make sure you have all the information you need before embarking on your fishing adventure in North Carolina. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions our clients ask. Whether it’s about booking a trip, what to bring, or the types of fishing we offer, we’ve got you covered!

How do I book and pay for a trip?

You can book HERE, submit a Contact Me Form HERE or message me on Facebook, HERE! All payments can be paid at the beginning or the end of your trip! You will pay a $50 deposit to secure your slot. We accept Cash, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, and Zelle. Gratuity (tip) standard practice is 15%-20% of the cost of your trip. Gratuity is greatly appreciated! Please go to the bottom of the homepage under "payments" HERE to pay the deposit for your trip!

What time do we arrive and what should I bring?

Start time is dependent on the time of year, number of bookings for the day, and weather. Kyle will get in touch with you regarding the start time, but typically in the spring/summer it is 6-7 am and in the fall/winter the start time is 8-9 am. This is flexible and can be worked out so please don't hesitate to ask! For your fishing trip, bring a cooler if you'd like to take home fish (for crappie, catfish, or perch), a hat, sunglasses, supportive shoes, sunscreen, rain gear, and warm clothing (depending on the weather). Alcohol and guns are prohibited on the boat.

Can I bring the fish home with me that we catch?

Absolutely! Crappie are some of the best, flaky, freshwater fish you can eat!

How many people can go on a trip?

The maximum capacity is 8 people or 1025 lbs per USCG guidelines. Although the capacity is 8, trips work best with up to 4 guests plus your guide for Crappie trips and 2 guests for Bass Trips. In North Carolina, children under the age of 13, must wear a PFD (life jacket) at all times on the boat, and children must be 5 or older to join.

Do I need to bring my own tackle and gear?

You absolutely can if you would like! Otherwise, rods, reels, and all tackle will be provided during your trip.

Do I need to buy a fishing license for this trip?

Yes, all anglers ages 16 years or older will need to purchase a fishing license before your trip. You’ll need a freshwater inland fishing license, which can be purchased HERE.

Can I extend my trip beyond the time I booked for?

Yes! You can extend your trip unless another booking is scheduled right after yours. For example, if you book a 4-hour trip and want to extend it to a 5 or 6-hour trip, you can do so if available. You would pay the difference for the extended trip duration.

What type of fish will we be targeting?

We specialize in Crappie and Bass fishing on Jordan Lake and Shearon Harris Reservoir. Depending on the season, we can adjust the focus of the trip based on your fishing preferences.

Can I bring food and drinks on the boat?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and water. Please note that alcohol is prohibited during the trip for safety and liability purposes.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our trip?

Safety is our top priority. If the weather looks dangerous (storms or high winds), we will be in touch and if needed, reschedule the trip for a later time/date.

Can I book a trip for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary?

Absolutely! Fishing trips make great gifts for special occasions, and we can work with you to customize the trip to make it a memorable experience. Just let us know what you're celebrating when you book!

What is included in the Garmin and Lowrance training sessions?
